“Life is too short for bad haircuts,” says Seb Vaughan-Jones, the man behind Bristol’s latest grooming shipping container spot, Barber Box.
Nestled within a development of repurposed shipping containers near Brabazon in Filton, Barber Box offers a fresh take on barbering. After spending nearly a decade honing his craft in Henleaze, Vaughan-Jones decided it was time for something new—a venture that reflects both his personality and the spirit of the city he’s called home for his entire life.

Having left a career in education to pursue barbering, Vaughan-Jones trained at the Thomas Lloyd Barbering Academy in Cardiff, becoming fully qualified in 2017. His journey, though unconventional, was driven by a desire for flexibility and a passion for the craft. And now, with years of experience under his belt, he’s ready to put his own stamp on the local barbershop scene.

Barber Box, according to Vaughan-Jones, is more than just a place to get a haircut. “I wanted to create something unique and personal,” he explains. “The shop is in a refurbished shipping container, which gives it a different, edgy feel. People are always looking for something out of the ordinary, and that’s what I aim to offer here.”

The shop, located at the Brabazon housing site, combines precision, quality, and a welcoming atmosphere, aiming to give clients more than just a trim. “It’s all about the experience,” he adds. “I’m excited to be part of the community I live in. Barbering isn’t just cutting hair—it’s about building relationships, gaining a presence, and offering something memorable.”
Supported by his young family, Vaughan-Jones is optimistic about the future, and his passion for creating a space that offers more than a haircut is clear. “Life’s too short for bad haircuts, and with Barber Box, I want to give people a place where they feel at home while looking their best.”
